With less than 115 days until opening, the construction at Wolf Ridge at Centennial is moving along at a rapid pace.
Currently, the exterior brick for both Tower and Lakeview Halls is very close to being complete and the installation of the glass curtain walls has begun. Inside of the buildings, sheetrock is about 30 percent complete in Lakeview Hall and the individual apartments are now beginning to take shape. Window installation also began last month inside individual apartments. The roofing on both halls is also nearly complete, and elevator installation continues in Tower Hall.
University Housing is also busy selecting furniture for Wolf Ridge lobbies and other common spaces. We are also securing bike racks and other outdoor furniture for the green areas surrounding the buildings. Construction also began on a new pedestrian path between Engineer Building III and Tower Hall. Grounds crews will also plant trees along the new road and top of the new parking lot.
University Housing also sampled the new LED lights for the tower outside Tower Hall. The lights will wash the exterior of the building so the tower glows at night. The tower of Tower Hall will eventually link to the light schedule of the Belltower on main campus, so both will glow red whenever a significant campus event occurs. University Housing is also exploring other lighting options with the LED lights throughout the year. We hope to use a pink light for the tower to show support when NC State celebrates the Hoops for Hope game.
Over 320 students have applied to live at Wolf Ridge this fall and will move into Tower and Lakeview Halls before the fall semester begins. Space is still available in both buildings for students who want to live on Centennial Campus.
