Welcome to University Housing! We are glad you will spend this year on campus in an environment that is inclusive and supportive of academic, intellectual, social and emotional growth. Living on campus is a great opportunity to interact with other students, faculty and staff members.
Our leadership teams in residence halls and on-campus apartments provide many opportunities for you to grow and have fun through educational, social, lifestyle, diversity and academic programs. If you are interested in being a part of these leadership teams, please consider joining your Hall Council or the Inter-Residence Council (IRC). Informational sessions for Hall Councils are held during the first two weeks of classes. Check out IRC at the Big Three Open House on Aug. 22 from 8-10 p.m. in the Brickyard.
IRC is a residential resource organization focusing on improving the on-campus living experience. We are comprised of residential student leaders who advocate for student concerns to administrators, support programs in the campus community, and create events that make NC State a great place to live. Our job is to make living on campus awesome. This year, we will focus on becoming a better resource to serve you. Please visit our website at irc.ncsu.edu for rentals, committees and programs designed to improve your residential experience!
IRC will host two traditional events during Wolfpack Welcome Week. During Chillin' & Grillin', IRC and IFC officers will serve hamburgers and hotdogs on Tucker/Owen Beach from 5-7 p.m. on Aug. 20. The second event, Silent Disco, is our annual, signature event. Silent Disco is from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. on Aug. 23 in Carmichael Gym on Courts 9-11. Dueling DJs broadcast their mix to wireless headphones that each participant receives upon entry. Get ready for a totally new and amazing experience!
Check out other Wolfpack Welcome Week activities during Aug. 16-23 as well. I know you will find numerous activities you will not want to miss. One of the benefits of attending a large institution is the many organizations we have. Explore and join some of our more than 600 clubs and organizations during Wolfpack Welcome Week and through Student Student Involvement.
Once you arrive on campus and have a question, problem or need assistance, ask your RA! They are very prepared to help you succeed at NC State. We cannot wait to see you at Wolfpack Welcome Week events! Go Pack!
