When students leave for summer break, you might think the University Housing office comes to a standstill. In reality, summer is one of our busiest seasons. For three short months each summer, our Conference and Guest Services team works tirelessly to accommodate more than 70 summer camps and workshops, housing more than 10,000 guests, including more than 100 interns in our residence halls and apartments.
“Whether it is working with long-term clients or building relationships with new ones, every summer provides exciting opportunities,” said Lynne Barbour, Assistant Director of Conference and Guest Services. “Each group is unique and brings diverse perspectives and positive energy to campus. I know our team has done a great job when guests leave with smiles on their faces. What better way to promote Wolfpack pride than hosting perspective students or their parents on campus while providing great customer service?”

University Housing also provides student staffing of more than 30 Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs) who help provide seamless customer service and hands-on assistance to guests. “I enjoyed my time working with Conference Services this past summer,” said SCA Jule Rich. “The new skills I have gained, like customer service, phone etiquette, emergency response and experience with programming software will be beneficial with any position I may hold in the future.”
By booking your conference with our Conference and Guest Services team, you will receive quality customer service at an affordable rate. You’ll also give back to the on-campus student living experience. Revenues from our conference program are invested into projects to improve NC State residential communities.
The Conferences and Guest Services team also provides professional development training, resume critiques, and mock interviews for all summer conference employees. Our program is ultimately about service: to our clients, to our students, and to NC State.
