On Nov. 22, the Iota Rho Gamma Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) inducted 20 new members during a ceremony at Wolf Ridge. “NRHH strives to recognize the top 1 percent of on-campus leaders,” said Summer Higdon, president. “Members are inducted based on their contributions to the housing community. The organization stands on four pillars: leadership, scholastics, service and recognition. The NRHH community is an active honor society whose members participate in various events throughout the semester.”

The induction ceremony included a sand ceremony representing the different layers of leadership, a presentation of pins and certificates and a speech by NRHH member Tim Blair, Associate Director of University Apartments. Blair challenged new inductees to see leadership as a responsibility that encompasses passion, integrity and commitment to making a difference.
“As members of NRHH, you are already recognized as individuals who have acted in a way to positively impact the lives of others,” Blair said. “You have realized that by giving something of yourself to your community or staff, you actually get something in return. Sometimes these returns are in overt ways, such as today’s ceremony. Other times, these returns emerge as a sense of happiness or contentment. Now it is time for you to make a difference pursuing your passion in a way that will create the legacy that you hope to leave. Whatever that passion is, I look forward to living in a better world because you were willing to assume this responsibility.”
